I have heard of oscars develpoing a personality....
What other fish develop a personality?

I had two and they were realllly nice

however, i was looking for one that i can house in my 55

There are plenty of puffers you can house in a 55 if you wanted to...

My eel has a bundle of personality.

My dwarf puffers had personality, and so does my Jaguer cichlid. BUT nothing and I mean nothing compares to the personality of an Oscar, they're like underwater dogs.

I can't believe I'm the first person to say BETTAS!!! :hyper: :hyper:

Just step inside the betta forum. Just one step. I dare you.

GOTCHA!!!!

Most large cichlids do. Flowerhorns, although most people don't like them because of the whole hybrid thing, have the most personality of any fish I've ever seen (and this is coming from an oscar and betta owner!) I'm getting one soon, hopefully. I've only ever seen tiny 4" juvies, and even then you can see their personalities shining through! Most personable fish ever.

Most fish do in general. In fact, most chordates do since they tend to have more highly developed brains. I know people love to just write it off as "anthropomorphism," but what else would you call it but personality when you have one fish that is terrified of everything, and one that swims up to the glass begging for food?

The Blood Parrot (severum/red devil) has an awesome personality. Do a Google and look at all the sites dedicated to that one fish.

I agree with Synirr. I've kept Flowerhorns, Oscars, Red Devils and Motaguense. All pretty large and found Flowerhorns to be one of the more personable of the lot.

Having kept lots of fish I can say that bettas trump goldfish and tetras, but not much else, Try one of the larger loaches, or some of the bigger cichlids, or even better, clownfish, Go for a tank bred Clarkii, they are hardy and inexpensive.

a good puffer will surpase all of these in peronality test. To say any different is simply a denial. There may be some saltwatr species that can improve on this, but as a fw to bw whole, a puffer is hard to beat

Can puffers go in community tanks though? Because I was told they can get very aggresive e.g. fin nipping.

Aslo I find that my eels also have fantastic personality, can you please post any pics?
