Hi all, i am sorry if his post is in the wrong place but as you can see this is my 1st post lol.

i have aa question for you guys and gals..

i have a 3ft tank with-
kissing gourami
x2 pearl gourami
1 neon
1 glow light
1 bristlenose catfish - 2inch
2 dwarf puffers
and aa algae loach and coolie loach -1 inch

my peppered cats havelaid around 30 eggs in clusters, i have never had fish that has laid eggs before, s i have absolutly no idea whaat to do. i would love to keep a few more peppered as i can easily get another tank,

Do i need to do anything to help them hatch..also how long do they take to hatch x

thanks all.

i would move them to either a floating container or another tank or the bristlenose will have a nice full belly before long

oh right ok, well i do have a plastic container with slots in it, tbh i never used 1, so do i just take the eggs off the glass and pop them in the container? then put the container back in the tank?

how long before they hatch, i noticed them on saturday

Yes remove the eggs ASAP. All the other fish in your tank WILL eat them.

yes, move into a container and make sure there is a decent water current over them to stop them growing fungus. It would be best to put them into a seperate tank with a small air powered filter if you have one.
There's no real way to tell as this is your first time taht they will hatch, and also they are difficult to raise, so expect a few losses along the way.
Also how manys in your group of peppereds at the moment?

i just have a male and female peppered. they laid the eggs on sat night, i will pick them off the side of the tank and pop them into the container. how long do i need to wait till they hatch?

You have just the two? im no expert on breeding but have read up and tried to condition my sterbai before with no effect. Just waiting for them to mature i think. sorry wandered off topic, but i was saying thats rare to have just the two in a group to breed as usually they are happy in groups, so breeders usually breed them in groups. Im impressed. :p lol.

Make sure the container has holes and can get a decent flow, however not so big holes that the fish can escape into the main tank if they hatch. I would say a few days usually, have they not been eaten seeing as they've been in the tank with the other fish since saturday?

If they do hatch then you will not need to worry for food for the first couple of days as they will still be absorbing their egg sacks, however do get reading up, theres a good link to tips about breeding corys if i can find it!

Hi carpetcleaningindevon :)

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

If you've taken the time to look at the link above, you should have some idea about the basics of raising catfish. Please don't hesitate to ask more questions.

You might have had a bit of trouble moving the eggs because of the timing involved. When they are first placed on the glass, plants, or other surface, they will be soft and sticky. As time goes by they firm up and lose their adhesiveness. This means that they burst if you try to move them too soon and won't stick to another surface if you move them too late. Even so, if you provide enough water flow around the eggs, some of them sould hatch.

Sometimes it takes a bit of practice to learn to safely move them. If you fail with this batch, don't give up. Your corys will probably give you some more eggs soon.
