Hi all,

About 3 weeks ago i changed my tank from sand to gravel. The gravel is black and really fine, exellent for planting so i have read :) My big corys were really pale and yellowish when i had the sand but now i have converted they have went really dark and i was wondering if this ment they are unhappy or ill or just fine? ill try getting a pic asap but the cameras on the blink.

Thanks

Kev

Do you mean they have darkened in colour if so it's a sign of a bacterial infection which corys are prone too.

perhaps they changed their color to blend in and escape predation. This dosent mean that you have predators in the tank its just an instinct. But thats just what i think, you could take it with a grain of sand, or a grain of gravel.

My Peppered Cories came out of a tank with light coloured gravel and into my tank with black gravel and they got alot darker as well so I wouldn't worry about it too much I think they are just trying to blend in with their enviroment, but keep an eye on them just in case.

Sounds like they are just trying to blend in - Ours did this recently too - I posted a picture on here somewhere....
