I have my heater set to 18 celcius as it's obviously dodgey as the thermometers I have read 25 degrees. I've been reading here that peppers prefer a cooler temp. I haven't bought a new heater as I'll have a new bigger tank next week and I'll be moving all fish to that tank. I'll have 2 peppers, 3 albino's. 3 platy's, and 1 molly. My plan is obvously more fish, including same species corys. My question is, can I set my new tank at a cooler temp as I'm not sure about it suiting all of the fish I hope to have? Or should I bring the cory's to the lfs and get a better suited type? Thanks for any advice!

you should be fine with anything up to 25 degrees, any higher then it might be uncomfortable.

Ideally, Peppered want a cool winter period at less than 20C, which will not do your other fish many favours. How would you feel about keeping the Peppered (with added numbers to at least six) in the older tank over the winter, perhaps with another upper water species that enjoys temperate water that could drop to 16, and then transfer them to the new bigger tank during the summer?

If that does not appeal to you, taking the Peppered back and replacing them with Albinos (Bronze) to get a group of 8 or so in the new tank might be the best solution here.

Thanks for that guys. I'll think about that as I was hoping to keep my current tank as a hospital/quarantine tank.
