Hey I got a Betta today and I have him in alone in a 10 gallon tank. I was wondering what would happen if I put him in my 55 gallon tank with my bigger fish. I have a Green Severum Cichlid, Kissing Fish, Silver Dollars, Snake Skin Gourami, a DoJo, and a Parrot Fish in it. I dont feed my fish live food and the two Cichlids are not agressive. I have a power filter that is running on only one side of the tank.. but the tank is 4 foot long and he can stay on the other side. I have caves plants and everything else. My water is at 81-82 in that tank and I use Stress Coat to treat the water and Salt without Iodide in it. Let me know if he would survive in this tank

Get him a 2 usg critter keeper and change his water at least once a week with denatured water or treated declorinated water. Put a live plant in for him to rest on and add a little aquarium salt. Especially, if he is a VT (veil tail) he will do better alone than in any community and never that community.

Yeah, I am just going to leave him in this tank. He finally just came out and started swimming. Well Swimming some. Do the like being in a lit tank?? Would it bother him if I left his light on all night?

Fish need sleep too. They have no eyelids. It is healthier I believe to give them about 8 hours a day.

Also too much light increases the growth of algae. I break my lighting into 4 hour segments. It reduces the algae growth and keeps it under control. It also means I can have the lights on when I'm around to watch w/o increasing the algae

yes i think it's safe to say he'd get eaten :/
