I'm still relatively new to Bettas (3 months of motherhood :D ).

I've seen a lot of posts mentioning feeding them peas. Why? What does this do for them/when should I do this?

I would have peas in there diet a couple of times a week, as it keep them going to the toilet, as to many dry foods can cause swim bladder and dropsy problems, also frozen daphnia is good as it helps them digest there food.

I may try adding that in.

Right now i feed them the Hikari pellets, which they seem to love.

I give them blood worms every once in a while, but one of them doesn't seem to like them at all. (The other two LOVE them)

in the last week ive been conditioning my bettas ready for a spawn this weekend. i gave them a few peas to help digest all them bloodworms :D

:) Just be sure you use frozen peas, not canned ones. Take a couple of peas, put them in the microwave for a minute. Then blanch them in cold declorinated water. Shell the pea and squish up the insides. None of my fish would eat them at first, I had to try four or five times, but once they started eating them it was like a feeding frenzy when I put them in. It's especially funny to see one of the ghost shrimp grab a piece of pea that is as big as he is and try to carry it back to their cave. :D
