Hey all,
I have some extra cooked carrots and peas and am wondering if it is OK to give to my goldfish.
Are peas only given in cases of constipation?

Also, do I have to remove the skin of the pea? They are cooked and soft..

thanx so much for your help!

Peas and carrots will be fine for your goldfish, just remember to remove any leftover food.
Many people substitute flake with vegetables once or twice a week and it won't do them any harm.
When the pea is cooked, remove the shell and mush between your fingers. :good:

Just remember to make sure there SALT free...Blanch well and take the skins of the peas. The carrots will be fine.

you can feed them other things as well including pumpkin, zuchinni, apple, and most other fruits/veges.
Don't feed them onion or onion related plants, and no potatoes.
Goldfish are vegetarian so they need plant matter in their diet.

Will make sure to feed no onions or potatoes.. May I ask why no potatoes? I am just curious.

I'm not 100% but it has something to do with the amount of starch released from them. It encourages bacterial blooms in the water. Also the fish have a few issues digesting the starch in its raw form.
Hence the reason you should cook them and turn them into chips. Then you can have fish and chips :)
