Thanks Liz, can you tell me what is the effect of having 16 hours of tank lighting?

To put it in very basic terms, imagine you were made to eat and produce food for 16 hours straight. You'd exhaust yourself, right? Please somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the basic idea.

There isn't a definite answer for this, but most would say it isn't exhaustion, but rather they are full! As soon as they have taken up enough CO2 the rate of photosynthesis drops, this is particularly noticeable in fine leaved stem plants such as myriophyllum and limnophila where they close there leaves.
This article is based on terrestial flowers but I'm sure some of the theories are transferable;

Snowflake, I've been looking on the net to find a fert with iron and nitrogen,I have found this, APF Liquid Plant Nutrition which contains nitrogen,potassium,phosphorus(NPK)
You also say you use flourish,I take it you dont mean flourish excel because I thought this was used to reduce algae.
I would estimate my tank lights are on for about 16 hours per day.
