I am partnering up with Aquotix Aquariums to build a custom aquarium the same size as the Aqua One Horizon 130 tank (90cm w by 42cm h by 36cm d), but once my eyebrow (plucked most of it yesterday during school) and eyelashes grow back, I will do it with them. I have mentioned the Aqua One tank in a previous post for its size. It will probably cost $400 AUD, as confirmed by the store, to build with a glass lid, which is roughly the same price as the Horizon 130 that Petbarn sells. The LFS uses black silicone to glue the tanks together, which I think is a good thing (and mentioned on their website as well). I am thinking of adding a custom background for the tank.

I do have some questions, too. What filter and heater should I need for the roughly 136 litre tank that the store sells? Is it worth it for me and Aquotix? How will the tank be transported from Canning Vale to my home in Booragoon?

Don't waste your time getting a custom tank that size. You can buy a standard 3ft tank (3ft long x 14 inches wide x 18 inches high) for half that price.
A custom tank the size you want (3ft x 14.5in x 17in) shouldn't cost anymore than a standard 3ft because it is almost identical in size and would use the same thickness glass (6mm thick).
Just ring around a few shops and find out what a 3x14x18 tank costs.

A 150 watt heater is normally used on 3 ft tanks in Perth.

Filter will depend on fish in the tank. If it's for the micro rasboras from Myanmar, then an AquaClear 50/ 70 or similar would be heaps.

You will need a piece of polystyrene foam to go under the base of the tank and maybe one for the back and sides to help insulate it.

The tank is normally taken home in your vehicle. However, you would have to get your parents to pick it up. Alternatively you pay the shop to deliver it. That price will be added onto the bill and could be anywhere from $10-100+ for the delivery, depending on where you live, who delivers it, and how greedy the shop is.

The Aqua One Horizon 130 is more expensive at Petbarn ( over 700 dollars when you are not a member) than a custom tank the same size. I agree, but I don't waste time on custom aquaria. I just haven't have it yet. I am planning to add fish from Lake Inle, since I have changed my mind on the previous tank idea. The filter choice you got for me was good.

I would try the foam under the base of the tank, but I would have to cut it to size.

A custom aquarium is any aquarium that is not standard size. The standard size 3 foot tank in Perth is 3ft long x 14 inches wide x 18 inches high. You can get them for $200-250.

This one is a bit wider but is close to a standard 3ft tank and is $249.

Paul at Morley Aquarium makes tanks and you could email him to find out how much a 3 ft tank costs.

Vebas makes tanks. Aaron at Vebas used to make nice tanks.

Before you buy or order anything, ring or email different shops and find out how much they sell tanks for. There's no point paying a shop several hundred dollars more for the same item.

I paid $190 recently for a 1220 x 450 x 450 tank (8mm), complete with lids and styrofoam sheet to support the base. A 200W Eheim heater cost under $100 and a Seachem Tydal 75 HOB filter for $115.
