hi pies :)

Are Parrots and Mollies compatible?
will me cheeky parrot fish eat them??

xx

Nope not really to be honest.

Parrots will happily bully the hardest of cichlids, so a little molly will not stand to this sort of thing.
The only way it would work is if u had plenty of mollies already and then introduced a small parrot.

Being reared with them it should be ok, but no way could u introduce molly's to a tank with parrots their already.

Oki doki.
Thanks.

I've got one parrot, and shes still only small.

What fish could you recomend?

Thanks

What size tank? Giant danios, silver dollars, raphael catfish, pictus or bigger synodontis species should all be robust enough to stand up to a parrot. Other big New World cichlids with care and lots of space. Keep in mind the parrot itself is going to require a good bit of space, added fish will mean more. Another cichlid would mean a lot more, as both fish will claim a territory and without enough space, they may fight for control.

I have 5 BP and 6 Mollies in the same tank and they get along great. But my BP are friendly and really don't seem to mind any smaller fish in their tank.

i see no problem with it as long as aggro is distributed among the parrots and the parrots do not deciede to breed.

It may work if you start with small parrot's in an established tank. But if if you try adding them to an established tank with parrots already in there, you have almost no chance.

lol.. well i guess my parrots are just too nice.. they have eggs every month and never have nudged or even chased any of the mollies... I'm lucky to have my two fav fish in the same tank.

now thinking about it...... I did once in a smaller tank have a BP attack a molly ... out of no where and just wouldn't leave the molly alone... but only one molly... she seemed to hate that one molly.. i took the molly out for a few days and when i put her back... same thing... but the bp left all the other mollies alone... I had to put the poor molly in another tank with three larger bp and get her some more molly tankmates. She was fine in there. My large bp could care less about anything else in the tank unless it go's in their little hiding place. that was kinda odd though...... now they are all in a large 90g and no problems at all.

A lot of people say it is a bad mix... I would have never tried it if i had educated myself first. I'm lucky they ignore eachother now but I think this is a rare case.

I have two angels, three guppies, five platys, a cory, a loach and a pleco in with my parrots. They ignore all of the other fish besides the other parrots. :fun:
