Hey Everyone,

I have a five inch parrot fish in an 80 gallon. One of his tankmates is a 6 inch botia modesta. Whenever the botia comes out, the Parrot attacks him relentlessley until he retreats. The parrot isn't aggresive with the gold tiger botia, or any of the other fish including tiger barbs, zebra danios, pictus cat, albino rainbow shark, or red eyed tetras. Why do you suppose he targets that one fish? What can I do, if anything, to reduce the aggresion?

well i dont think i can offer u a sensible answer, iv had fish that seem to target some fish but not others of teh same species. is the botia that is being harassed purhaps female? i know nothing about botia and very lil about parrots, but i was discussing this with somone else before. some female fish when ready to mate will release hormones into teh water that attract males of the same species but may bother fish of another species, this in my opinion would maybe trigger an aggressive response but im probably wrong :dunno:
