Parrot Fish

hi im wondering if i could keep parrot fish in a small community tank in it i have 1 neon tetra 1 glowlight tetra 2 black skirt tetra 2 widow tetras 4 harlequins and a male and female dwarf gourami thanks

You haven't said what size tank you have but I would concentrate on getting some friends for the other fish, most if not all are shoaling fish and need their own kind to thrive, especially the tetras. I've never kept parrots but I think they might make a meal of the smaller fish, even if you tank was big enough to house one.

Hi. I don't want to hijack this thread but your reply caught my attention and posed a question in my mind... will different tetras shoal together? or would you need enough of each type to have their own shoal?

Ideally they need their own kind to feel secure. I have heard that neons, cardinals, and black neons can shoal together but I haven't seen it myself.

i have tetras with parrot fish plates in a 3ft tank and they are very happy together
