hi i have just been digging around for some snails to take out of my 55 and put in my 40 and i noticed a red worm in the substrate,it was buried under and could move relatively fast ,it resembles Tubifex worms and earth worms.Could it be a parasitic worm ? as i have recently done a big tank clean,i added some gravel that had been sitting outside,i did sive it though vigorously but could something have gotten in though that ? the only other thing that is new to my tank is the food witch is generally mussels, prawns, octopus and langastene .Here's a video and some pictures :

Probs a earthworm if your gravel was outside.

thanks,i guess i just panicked as i have lost my favourite fish today, my spanner barb he was also the fist fish i ever bought and i didn't want to lose anybody else ! thanks again

Alex

looks like a typical mudworm any kind of parasite that came from freshwater would almost certainly be smaller than that. worm parasites have evolved to be small and live unnoticed in fish. same as worms in humans :)
