Parasite?

No the mouth does not look swollen and is not bleached and there is no wool fungus either. So I don't think it is columnaris. However, today, whatever it was in the front of its mouth has drastically reduced in size.

from the second pic looks like it just has a prominent underbite and the color is gone from bumping into things (like a fishy callus-the bumping wore the scales off and hence the whitish/ lack of color. does the guy swim erratically ever against the glass? what sort of substrate/ornaments do you have (maybe poking around in them too much caused the scales to wear off). i do not think it is anything to worry about if behaving and eating normally (and having full range of use of its mouth). keep an eye out for any change for the worse. i have a feel, as ColinT that it is from contacting surfaces and the scales just wore off(and formed a thicker part which sticks out a bit, much like a callus).
cheers

thanks for the reply! Apart from that, he is all normal. I don't see anything wrong with him. The thing has also reduced in size drastically today. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens. The tank has no hard surfaces and for substrate, I'm using sand. I have never seen him bump into things either.

Glad there some improvement.
Let us all know how he gets on.
It could be an injury.

Thanks for all your help! I'm happy to report that whatever it was has completely cleared !

That's good news then.
