okay so i just bought two paradise fish, i did a quick water change 50/50 (needed doing) an then placed them into the tank . once i let them outta the bag after getting them used to the water temp an surroundings i noticed that one had what seems to be a cut on its head above its eye most properly fight when it was in the fish shop. is there anything i can do to help heal it? i also read wrong before i purchased them and now know they can grow quite large at about 10cm and i only have a 40 litre tank. will they grow only to a size suitable for the tank, or will they just keep growing?

cheers

Hi yes i would suggest getting a smaller fish because thats a big fish for that sized tank and to heal it the best think really is for it to heal naturally

cool, yeh im gonna do more frequent water changes. ive also noticed one of the paradise fish is rather aggressive an turns from a beautiful colourful orange to almost complete black when ever it gets territorial, so ive found a bigger tank off a friend i may put em in.

thanks

paradise fish are pretty aggressive, alot like betta splenden<not so bad>
They are very beautiful fish, i used to keep two in a four foot with some goldfish as they tollerate low temp's very well

In terms of the injury, just keep the tank water clean and make sure the temperature is not too high (as this encourages bacterial and fungal growth). Paradisefish are absurdly hardy and it should be fine.
