So, after a loooong absense from fish keeping (years!!) we bought my fish mad 3 year old a small 30L tank for her birthday. We cycled, started stocking on Friday with 2 guppies and lo and behold, just discovered *at least* 8 fry in with them (we thought Bubbles was a funny shape......what a pair of idiots, eh? :S )
SO I've no other tanks set up (they're all in the loft) and would really like these babies to survive (even though we've no room to keep them as adults) but have no idea if they'll be safe in with Mummy and the other (male we *think*) guy. All help greatfully received!!!!

P.S. Fabulous site, BTW!

I'd recommend getting some dense plants. That way, the fry will go into them, and the parents can't eat them in there. It could be artificial or live, doesn't really matter. Try getting some really java moss and floating it, because it has microorganisms which the fry can't eat.

Groovy. Shopping tomorrow, then, thanks!!!!

A stack of pebbles would be a good idea or a piece of slate, cleaned of course and soaked in some boiling water first. They will hide under these.

Hi,
Congrats on the fry. I, myself just had my first batch of fry, I have a 10 gallon with the mom and her 6 fry. And I only have one plant, but if you have the male in there too, you might want to buy a couple of plants. And don't worry about your fry surviving they are pretty hardy little guys! :) ;)
