Panda Garra are a total trip.

Hi. They are not a loach. They are not even related to them, just look similar. They are also not truly an algae eater, so beware and offer protein.
I will be getting them in few months too, so excited
I stand corrected; they are a carp I think. (A lot of sites claim they are loaches but looking up the genus this seems misinformation that has been widely spread. One thing is interesting is they are a relatively new fish to the trade.

Finally tried giving my Pandas freeze dried Tubifex worms pressed to the inside glass and they are not much interested. A couple took a nibble or two but basically ignored. I removed the worms. Still the things won't go to waste as in a day or two I'll have some dwarf cichlids and I know that they will scarf the things down.

Actually it will make for a good feeding separation as the Pandas will voraciously eat algae and bio film along with protein pellets. The rope fish will eat meal and earth worms and some protein pellets. The cichlids will eat the Tubifex worms along with the live worms and pellets. With the three types of fish there is an overlap as to what they like to eat which I consider a good thing. ;)
