Many know about my little panda cory Little Blue. He's shown signs of swimbladder issues again today so we removed him from the main tank and noticed he had ich as well. We treated him with Anti-White spot from Interpet and he went mental, then I notice it was sand stuck in his slime coat and he has a seriously huge lump on his tail, so I drained the tank, half filled and treated for swim bladder. While removing the old meds and stuff he went belly up twice and I had to swish him around. I put him in a breeder trap with a spongefilter next to it and a second airline in it, sand and his little pot, he's staying on the bottom now and his back end no longer seems to be floating away, but I am really stressed.

Basically:
  • Fish's back end started floating, had what looked like white spot
  • removed and treated for white spot
  • noticed white spot vanished, was sand, he went belly up
  • started draining tank, and swished him gently in water without touching him as I noticed a large lump at the base of his tail
  • went normal
  • went belly up again
  • put new water with swimbladder treatment in, started swishing again
  • after a few mins he zipped off then settled down
  • seems fine now
Tank is:
  • Fish - R - Fun Hex
  • 10ltr of water
  • treated with 2 mil stress coat and 1/2 mil of swimbladder treatment (its 1 mil for 20ltr)
  • Matured PVC and sponge filter from an endler tank
  • airline, sand, and small pot in breeder trap
  • breeder trap sitting on a spare sponge so it wont sink
is there anything else I can do for him?? Will post pics in a sec!! Thanks in advance!

Red Arrow points to bulge

Red arrow points to widest part of bulge, blue arrow points to base of tail, it sticks out way far...

Another shot

Quite a dark one but shows where the tail starts and how far the bulge sticks out the best of all the photos.

UPDATE: Being an idiot I am I forgot to only use half the dose, so wen't and changed half the water. He seemed very well and actually more upset that I was moving his water about again. I have hope yet for poor Little Blue.

Maybe all the changes are stressing him out. Maybe medicate him and leave him alone for a few days and see wat happens. Instead of disturbing him all the time. Cant help anymore sorry

he was upside down for a bit today when I went to feed this morning, but swam off when I leaned over to see if he was dead. He's swimming about normally now. I've given him some brine shrimp for breakfast and I am determaned to leave him alone today (mostly because I'm very ill myself and will probably sleep all day lol) Should I let him out of the breeding trap or leave him in there? seems best to keep him in a small space with lots of water around him so he can find his food and just chill.

He was a bit off again today, was resting upside down then nose down in a corner, he's trecking about as normal now though. Still really worried about him. Any ideas on his lump?

He's in a bad way.
Corys don't get whitespot, the spot on the tail more bacterial then anything.

Could it be a deformity from when he was born? Like a spine warp?

not that I know of. He looked just like everyone else when I put him in the main tank a few weeks ago. I'm stumped and no one around here sells medicated fish food :(

If the bulge was due to a bacterial infection I would have expected there to be signs of inflammation, but from the pictures I see no reddening, so I would guess that the fish has a parasite and would treat for such with Flubenol-15, if it is not a parasite the treatment will do no harm at all.

Phoned all of the fish shops in my area, no one sells anything like that. I think I have some Intrapet Parasite stuff or some other kind somewhere though, will have a look. Know of anyone online thats fast to ship?
