I took some male guppies back to lfs because I had too many and they were harrassing the females. They said I could exchange them so I asked if they had any corydoras and the girl gave me a funny look and said I think you made that name up!!
I have just got two panda corydoras today and I was wondering if that is enough or do they like being in bigger groups? Will they be happy in a mixed group if I get some different versions?

Edit: spelling

how many guppies did you trade-in for the two corries?

When I took the guppies back the girl wasnt very helpful so I just got the female guppies and an orange mickey mouse platty. I went back the day after, after doing a bit of research, the way she looked at me I thought I was imagining the name!! I'm new to this so I wasn't sure if I had made the name up!! I paid £3 for the two C.Pandas.

Thats a pretty good price for C. Pandas. Remember that C. Pandas are one of the more sensitive species of cory, so keep up with the tank maintence :good:

this is a c.panda isn't it?

It depends on the water conditions. A lot of people have problems keeping them. Some people keep them with no problems. They are definately one of the more sensitive cories.

I got mine for an uncycled 20 gallon. It probably helped that I gave them a waterchange pretty much everyday, but they made it through. I don't really see how they're hard to keep.. just try some. =)

For sure cories do much better in groups of 5 or more, of the same species. You'll notice the interaction between them, which is always amusing to watch!!

I've not had panda cories before, but I think if you keep with water maintenance as Barracuda518 mentioned, and your tank is cycled AND is mature, then they should do okay.

Dakota Ice, you must have picked out some hardy little pandas! Bronze cories (one of the hardiest cories) would find it hard to do well in an uncycled tank, let alone cories.

Pandas are my favorite cories so far. I had 3 of them then 2 died over the course of several months for no explainable reason. All active one day, dead the next. I still have one and am trying (desperately it seems at times) to get more ordered but my LFS has had a problem with their current stock of cories (aeneus) and won't buy more til these are cured or all dead. *grumble grumble*

Anyhow, I plan to get another 9 or 10 and breed them in a 30g. Even if they don't breed, they'll make for a nice display in the foyer by the front door. :)

I really like my little cories, I'd probably cry if even one died. I have 10 now, they have now taken over the 20 and are the only fish in it.

It's of course fully cycled now, and they spawn every weekend. It's almost bookwork. By 8 p.m. Saturday, they're spawning.

I love their coloring, my three big females are the deepest golden color with really defined black coloring.

Here's a picture of most of the gang!
