How can you tell if you have a pair of clownfish or not. just bought 2 and woundered about the charictaristics of a pair of clowns and what happens if there not a pair.

If they are a pair, one will probably be larger than the other. The bigger one is the female. They'll also swim together a lot of the time. If they aren't a pair, they'll probably be fighting. Most types of clowns pair up pretty easily. Maroon clowns are the exception.

Clownfish start life as all being males so when you get 2, the more dominant one changes sex and becomes female and also gets bigger. AS long as they aint fighting dont worry about them as they will soon pair off ;)

They will twitch alot. IF you see them twitch than they should be paring. I had better luck when i had a nem

well mine 2 stay togetha most of the time and they don't fight so fingers crossed.

If theyre not fighting then I'd go ahead and consider them a pair. If it's breeding you're after then I believe that has a lot to do with diet.
