Painting The Back Of My Tank

I continuously get water between my background and the tank glass, making parts of the background stick to the glass. It looks terrible! I have heard about people painting the back of their tanks. What paint do you use? Do you need to prep the surface? How should I do to prevent overspill getting my fish?

I will be watching this because I want to paint the back of mine as well.

But, in the mean time I have put a little vasiline on my background to help it "stick" to the glass.
It seems to be working well for now, and water is not able to penetrate.

Ordinary black gloss.

I'm using black hammerite paint

Gloss is definitely the way to go. I have used it for a couple of tanks and never looked back. 2-3 coats will cover it perfectly.

I use black gloss fast dry door step pain only coss it was £1 a tin in jtf stores and normal gloss was £10
It was only a small tin but sofar it's done 2 juwel rio180's
Make sure it fully dry before the 2nd coat, and you should be ok
