I agree - I saw this a while ago and forgot to post it here. Thanks to TDNP for bringing to everyones attention.

Since i started this topic up some weeks ago i dont really have anything new to say but hopefully by adding my pawprint to the pettition we will get one step closer to stopping this barbaric practice.

lets hope it might do some good if people get educated about it then the demand for them should stop then there will be No money to be out of it. I've posted the address on some other sites as well spread the word!!!!!

I am happy to see others who are passionate about the atrosities that are done to fish in the name of the "almighty buck", but I must also be realistic!!

While petitions are a good way to bring these things to light, I don't believe it will even make a dent in this practice.

I have been keeping fish for over 20 years and painted glass fish were around when I first started in this hobby.

Not only did they flourish, but it caused a whole new lot to be created!!

As long as there is a market and world opinion (Law Makers) allow this to take place, I am affraid the practice will continue!!

One day perhaps this practice will cease, but I hate to admit it won't be anytime soon!!!

NEVER say NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way.....I signed the petition!! How bout the rest of you?????????????????????????

CM

signed - also read a few of the comments made by others and was suprised to note how many think we're a load of nutters :( They seem to have signed just to be able to make offensive remarks. Makes me wonder what kind of world we live in :-(

I am heading over there right now to sign the petition. We should all unite to educate people, especially in the department stores.
Thanks, and keep up the good work! :D

I signed but I agree with CM. Especially when I only saw 1870 signatures. There need to be in the 100,000 to make anyone notice. If I boycotted the stores who sell these items I couldnt buy anything for my fish. Every single one sells this crap. The problem is there are way too many uneducated people buying these fish. I admit. I was impressed the first time I saw it then I remembered I heard something about color injection from someone whom I think is a fool. But unfortunatly this time he wasnt lying except when he said ALL fish are injected. Its just sad that the owners of the stores even when they have a monoploy in the area feel compelled to sell this crap!!

I've signed too. As yet though I dont think I've seen any painted fish in the lfs near here, at least not that I've recognized as painted fish. Are they easy to spot?

Very easy to spot, they are clear except for two brush stroke size color marks on each side of the fish... usually in some florescent un-natural color.

Although I agree about the cruelty to animals part, I have to disagree about the poverty level wages the people doing the painting. Quick question about this... Which country's poverty level are they comparing their wages to? The USA? The country where the fish are being colored? Some obscure country? In most all of the 3rd world countries that I have been in, the people only get about 1 US dollar a day for pay. No matter what they do.
I'm all about signing if they get rid of that part of the petition, otherwise I just can't sign my name to it.
