P F K Aquascaping Contest Now Open

one question..... there's marks awarded for hardscape, what if you've chosen not to have any? would you be marked on the merits of that choice or something

I think the sacpe will be marked as to the whole layout, I don't think you'd lose marks for not having any hardscape. George will be fair and no doubt chose the winning tank based on the overall scape taking into account every factor. He knows what he is doing :)

aye, just there was a break down in pfk of how the marks were given out and it said a proportion of it would be given for use of hardscape.

sure there's no chance of me winning anyway so not loosing sleep over it, was just wondering really!!

i know he knows what he's doing..... i've no chance if he's being fair though, i was hoping i could come up with some sort of bribe :hey:

Marks won't be automatically lost for no use of hardscape.

However -

If you do use hardscape, it will form part of the marking, so use it wisely!

If you don't use it, and it looks like it needs it, then that will reflect in the marks too.

I hope that makes sense.

perfect sense and that's exactly what I'd though. in effect you'd be marked on your descision not to use hardscape. :good:

any hints on what sort of bribery would work best.... if i spelled out 'i love george farmer' in my scape would that help?! ;)

If you could do that, I would give you the prize. That would be hard! You'd need a big tank, though.

Could seriously be done, with a little HC carpet and a sloping substrated, much deeper in the back than in the front, so you could see the text. Riccia would perhaps work too, as you could attach it to rocks and spell out the phrase with them.

I totally dare someone...

pmsl i actually contemplated it, re-did my 10g last night, going for a carpet of pogostemon helferi but i've not got anything like full coverage yet. thought while everythings out of the tank i could put the plants in and do an ariel shot of it.

well maybe not quite but i reckon if you used a heart instead of love and just used his initials you could fit it in!!

bit on a silly question i surpose

Sorry for the delay in reply here.

I would say that if you are 17 when you take the photo then it will be in the Junior category.

ok thanks :good: probably enter it into the over 60cm category so it fills out properly

George this doesnt apply to me as my tank is 60cm that i hope to enter but what if someone is under 17 AND their tank is under 60cm? is there an overlapping group or can that person enter both categories?

HOw much does the quality of the photography come into this?
