How do I know there is enough oxygen in the tank? As my tank will be very closely shut so my future eels can't do a runner ( I hear they are very good at getting out of tanks!!). I don't want to suffocate them in closed conditions without oxygen!!Please help. Thanks in advance :)

When the filter ripples the surface quite well, you should be ok, or run an airstone for extra aeration.

Thanks. I will look into the airstones to be on the safe side :)

i like air stones, especially in larger tanks with only one filter

it creates water movement and prevents stagnant watre on one side. it does help with the oxygen levels as well, but this is not needed with mose filter today.

hang on back filters will allow the water to oxygenate itself fast enough
