Owning Multiple Bettas

YOu are aware they can'g get much oxygen that way, right?

Yeah, which is why I did exactly what Synirr mentioned below.

$4? Hate to tell ya, but I think you got ripped off! I got all mine exactly like that for under $2 at Walmart.
I'm in Canada. I got mine at Walmart as well but things are generally more expensive here. :p

I live in Vancouver, BC too. I don't know what WalMart you're going to but it's only around $1.50/2

I went to the one in Lougheed Mall. To be honest, I really don't care about spending a couple of extra dollars. I just happened to be at the mall and happened to spot them, thinking they'd be great for Bettas. If I decide to buy more, I'll look into getting cheaper ones but I really don't care if I lost a couple bucks today.

a week ago i got my second betta

my first has a 5 gallon hex tank to himself
and my new one has my first ones old 2 gallon bowl until i can afford another tank, he seems happy enough!

its hard work just having 2! i dont know how people manage 10+ bettas!!

LOL, I hear you loud and clear catxx! My two boys are enough for me.

Anyway, I have two betta babies: a red VT (Jeremiah - Jerry for short) and Rio, a marble CT. They are both in almost identical 1.5 gallon Kritter Keepers with green lids. I do 50% water changes with a gravel vaccuum twice a week. I love my boys and if I had my way, I'd have more! :shifty:

Wow, there's a lot of good info here! Thanks!
I was looking at those small heaters at walmart last night, it's good to know they will work for a 2.5 gallon. I couldn't split the little 2.5 gallon anyway, it's rounded in the front and (hmm..now that i think about it, i think every one of our tanks are rounded in the front!)

As for the little stackables, I'll have to check those out. We have a cat who likes to push things off of high places. I think she enjoys driving me crazy. Just last night she took out my large stereo speakers. The very last thing I'd want to happen is her to jump to where we'd keep any betta and knock him off! lol

...And for your reward...here are pics of the lobster (as requested)! lol (he was rather small in these pics. he's molted quite a few times and is kind of huge now, we removed some of the plants in the tank so that he wasn't trying to climb over everything, and we use screendoor mesh over the hole in the tank because he tries to escape)

My fiance is amazing at taking pics of our little guys thankfully.

it is very important to me to warn you that if the betta and the lobster are in the same tank together, your betta is in grave danger. any lobster with functional claws can become a fish eater. you should never keep any fish with a clawed crustacean that you would be upset to find half-eaten one morning.

Well yeah, we know that. It's to be assumed that anything with claws might kill a fish.

But it took us months to to get pics this good. He doesn't come out of his pots. He only comes out to eat and rarely at night. He's a VERY scaredy lobster. lol

He's not killed one fish so far, and we have some that like to torture him. :p Mean ol' fish.

Actually, our killer in our tank is our pleco. God forbid if something slow or sick gets near him. We've lost two gourimies to him (before we had the betta), one snail, one ghost cat fish, at least 3 tetras (and yes, i'm aware they are sometimes fin nippers, but they don't go near the betta, they stay in their spot schooling and are quite happy...unless any of them stray near the pleco), and that's all I can think of now. He's a small pleco, they only get about 4 inches long, but he can take out a fish faster than any disease in our tank. I do not like having a killer in our tank and would rather not have him, but he's my fiance's fish and so i'm stuck with him.

I'm assuming you have a mini bow then. I know there are several people on here that have them divided, It thinkg it actually works out better than dividing the rectangular tanks..... just a thought, in case you find that one betta isn't enough :p

You can really divide a mini bow? Who knew!

Well, at the moment it's set up as a sick tank. I had to. We have a red glass barb who is sick. There seems to be a disease or something that is only effecting that breed wiping them out. We bought extra stuff to try to combat it. So that's where our little sick girl is at the moment.

And now I have to wait anyway, we have worms or something in the tank. And I had to use water from the large tank for the small one so I'll have to treat that one for worms also once she is okay and feeling better.

Silly fish.
