Hi. I have an aquarium with the light integrated into the lid. The problem is the lid is very ugly so I have been looking around for an alternative light source. My tank is 31"x16"x18". What are people's thoughts on this

Can someone convert this into a link please.

There are three bulbs. Two are 21w white bulbs and one is a 21w blue bulb.

Will be fine,Only thing is you need condensation trays or glass lids fitted.as the original lid probably stopped water evaporation.

Another thing.....with these type of lights are fish prone to jump out the tank??

Never thought about that

Does your tank have something to sut the condensation trays onto,Most have stiffeners inside about 15mm doen from the top.
I prefer glass as they are easier to clean, and allow the light through better

i have a 6 foot by 2ft by 3 ft tank with no lid and over the tank lights. i have rainbowfish in there and everyone says they will jump i have had it for 3 years and have not had one death or any jumpers at all so i wouldnt be to concerned cuz i have seen alot of examples were people do this without losing fish ( although does depend on what fish you are keeping )

on the evaporation side of things i would get a tray or glass, i dont have either and i have to top up the water every 4-5 days but then again i do water changes every 6 days so it dont really bother me :)

I am intending on keeping a shoal of tiger barbs are these generally jumpy fish?
