Hello everyone.

I think I've done something very stupid. I started an African cichlids tank 2 months ago after an ammonia spike. I now have :

Johanni: 2
Hap: 1
Electric Yellow Cichlid: 2
Tropheus: 1
Juwel: 1
Calvus: 1
Misc. Cichlid: 3
Bristle-nose Pleco: 1

This is all in the fish box 120l by interpet. Good dimensions. Tank is really healthy and doing well.

I did my research but I don't think I did it well. I am now thinking I've over stocked my tank because I just found these guys grow much bigger than what I first researched. (I really should of asked here)

At the moment they are small. Range of 1-4 inches.

In my situation, if it is overstocked, should I just take some back? Or take all of them back to my lfs store? I am quite happy to scrap the whole tank as I prefer lots of small fish.

Thanks. (Sorry if this all comes across as really stupid, still learning)

most of the species you have like to be kept in large groups of their own kind, and if you like small fish, they're not for you. Imo it'd be best to take them all back and get some smaller fish species.

I assume your talking about a jewel cichlids, they would do better in south american cichlid water but can live with those species.
Most of those fish need at least a 4ft.

That single Tropheus will run riot with everything else and no doubt eventually die of bloat, they are highly aggressive and need to be kept in 12+ number, while their dietary needs are very specific.

The tank is far too small full stop, Malawi tanks need to be 240l+, Tropheus 5-foot plus. 120l is suitable for a small select Tanganyikan community, if you want Rift Valley cichlids.

Ah thank you very much. Cleared that all up. I'll take them back. :) Thank you everyone for input!

I would take them all back :(

Apart from that they get too big, you have such a mix of Tanganyikan cichlids, Malawi Cichlids and African Riverine cichlids (the Jewel cichlid) that all have different temperments and requirements. Though as they grow, the calvus, the tropheus and the jewel are all likely to turn into psycho monsters! And that hap will get huge...
