Overstocked Tanks And How To Tell?

also yes. one bristlenose and one normal plec. he will take ages to grow. if he does get too big i can sell him to my local shop as ive discussed selling with them before. they take all kinds of fish from amatuer breeders. so if you feel some of these fish defo have to go i can remove them quickly :)

Yes the silver shark does have to go. This fish will get to 14" long and they require a large group in a minimum tank size of 9'x3'x3. Yes they are peaceful but also very timid. Also I suppose you could keep the clown but he'll also reach 12-14" and they prefer 75 gallon+ tanks preferably 100+ gallons.

i am aware my clown loach can get to a foot long. but its very rare! if it does get too big offcourse i would rehome it elswhere. same with the shark. i dont think it will get bigger than 8 to 10 inches but if it does i would rehome it. thanks

But you aren't seeing the point! Your shark will grow much faster than your loach. And the sharks need to be in groups in very large tanks! They are very timid fish and can sometimes get scared to death!

You were right fluttermouth

no i am getting the point. i just disagreed with you about the size. i will speak to my local shop about re housing it

1Silver/Bala Shark? Should reach ~40cm, needs a big group to reduce skittish behaviour, 9x3x3 absolute minimum, ideally a longer tank like a 12-footer (which of course we all have  ) is better.

1 Clown Loach? Again, need a big group (just like Bala Sharks, not just 6), minimum 6x2x2 tropical, high current setup. If kept correctly 1 foot is no problem, google "Marge the Clown Loach."

2 Glass Catfish? Known to pine when kept in small numbers, definitely needs a 10+ group, very sensitive to water chemistry changes.

4 harlequin rasbora? Another schooling fish, needs some more to boost numbers, at least two more.

1 pakistan loach? Another chooling fish, needs another five conspecifics.

2 boesman rainbow fish? Another schooling fish, two females per male if a mixed sex group, needs four four adding at least.

1 climbing perch? Almost certainly going to enjoy the live lunch you provide aka the 5 guppies.

2 plecs? Which of the many species are these? Common or Sailfins perhaps that reach ~40/60cm and are massive drains on filter bacteria?

1 elephant fish? Awful choice in this setup, needs very carefully selected tankmates that are calm feeders and calm by nature eg. African Butterfly Fish, Leopard Bushfish etc.

If you mean you're going to ask them questions about whether you should they will most likely say you should get more instead

however. they can survive alone and are best in pairs. i knew it was a joke when i read they needed to be in a group :L

deftuch, can't you see we're trying to help? The stocking won't work, the fish are in all the wrong proportions, and some fish get waay to big for your tank. Your fish will either die painfully due to some stress related disease or just stress altogehter, or live a dull and sad life. Would you want that? Sure the fish might look "happy". This is the same problem they have with captive dolphins. We all know they have that cute little smile, but it doesn't mean its happy. It might even be abused and beaten, but the smile on its face won't fade. Looks can be decieving.

So for the interest of your fish (and your wallet. Would you want to replace fish all the time 'cause they keep dying?) Please rehome the shark, the clown loach, the rainbowfish. You need to get more glass catfish, more harlequins, and more pakistani loaches. The blood parrot has "evolved" such a deformed and weak mouth it won't be able to nibble a harlequin. So stop denying our advice and giving us excuses of how the fish are "happy"

+infinite to crossfire
We see people like you all the time and sooner or later most come back saying why are my fish "mysteriously" dying?

i know all about parrot fish. the harlequin i got were just babys. less than 1cm. i will be getting more rainbow fish and glass catfish. i do want my fish to be happy. i will rehome my shark. but based on what my local shop say. theres no way im rehoming my clown loach and pakistan loach. they are only 2 inches long each. and not trying to be a big pansy but they get on very well together and clean eachother ( pakistan loach cleans all the other fish that let it ) i have been told they are fine together. i would never have just one. i will always have 1 of each. and afterall my cousin has a 5 inch clown loach and a 6.5 inch pakistan loach. they get on just fine. i will bring up everything you have said with my local shop and will take them all out if they say so. or get some more loaches. depending on what they say. thanks all

So you'll believe a shop in it for the money over experienced fishkeepers? Also Pakistani loach only get 6 inches max and more like 5 in captivity soooo

Well I think I'm done here. May stick around but I don't see a purpose in giving people like you advice because you just won't listen.
