Overated Fish

a great topic from shrimply underrated fish. but i couldn't think of one.

is there a fish you ever had and wish you didn't because of whatever reason?

for me it is the balloon mollies! with no experience whatsoever, i asked the shop what they recommended. i was told mollies are good for beginners as they are easy to look after and colourful so i brought 5 and took it home. within 2 days i had over 50 frys, witin 1 week the tank was polluted with frys. as the name suggested i thought they were just fat, i didn't realised 4 out of 5 of them were pregnant! wasn't sure what to do i brought another tank transfer all the frys, only to realise the others was mating again for the next batch. as beginners fish goes, i'm not sure i would recommend mollies. and they ate all my plants within a week!

I dont have any that i wish i didnt, i definatley wouldnt have gotten mollies, just because i have heard negative things, plus i THINK they prefer a little bit of salt so that was a no go with my other fish....as far as your frys go, wouldnt the parents just eat them or most of them eventually? or did you no want that to happen? just saying because i think most fish will just eat the fry if they are not taken into a second tank....funny story though
