Over Stocking? Hope Not.

What are your tank dimentions ?

puffers are a little too aggresive for a comunity i have 2 at the mo they do need their own tank which needs to be hevily planted and have sand substrate as they like to sleep on the sand

try Puffer forum for a better idea for these

sucker fish it could be a otto often refered to as dwarf suckerfish if so then it needs to be in a group of at least 4 but are really one of the best fish for cirtain algea and not at all messy search on here or the net for otto's or CAE to see which one is the est fit for yours

pleco that depends on what pleco it is you have if it is a common then it has the obility to reach 12"+ but their are so many available that it could be any try Pleco Fanatics for an id if you can get a decent picture, also cirtain types of pleco's need bogwood to feed on or they will not live as long as they should

people are just trying to help you in regaurds to save fish the hassel of moving out of one tank with set water stats and then being moved to one that is slightly different which can stress the fish to a point where it will die

Ok, this is what is going to happen. i have 2 silver dollars, the pleco, the cat which gets maybe at the most 4", and the beta. im giveing the pleco away when he gets like 3 inch. the cat im going to keep. the beta if he ever seems stressed i will take him out. im going to keep the 2 silver dollars till they get to big. when it is all said and done i will have a south American puffer which is one of the nicer ones and can thrive in fresh watter with no salt. the beta if he stays ok. the cat and 2 silver dollars till they get to big. its not like now i have fish cramped in there there is a ton of room now because they are so small. when i give the dollars way im going to have the puffer, the cat, and the beta. and that seems ok. ya i will prolly get some little fish( not to little so the puffer dose not make them disappear). I assure you im not just slamming fish in there and not testing the watter and taking care of them. If i ever see a fish that looks a little stressed out or sad or sick i will give him a bigger tank with a friend.

Caring for fish isn't about just giving them enough room you have to take into consideration their specific needs. Some like to be in groups or on there own and will became very stressed otherwise. Silver dollars are extremely skittish fish that tend to freak out if you look at them wrong. They are suppose to be kept in groups of 5 or more to make them feel safe and less skittish. With only two in a small tank, yours are going to become very skittish and this is going to cause stress which is going to lead to disease.

Bettas are aggressive and puffers are very bold and don't like to be pushed around. So they both will probably fight each other, or one might try to fight and the other one will try to escape. If the puffer bites the betta it can easily kill it in one go if it hits the body.

The pitus is a carnivore and will most likely eat your betta eventually, along with any other fish it can swallow.

First post here. I can't understand why you insist on ignoring the advice which you asked for. Any research will tell you that a puffer and a betta is a terrible combination and one which your betta will not survive. I can't understand why you plan on doing this apart from wanting a fish and not caring about it's tankmates wellbeing. If you desperately want a puffer in your tank than invest in a seperate small tank for your betta (you can probably buy a suitable set up for £30 from a store). Puffas are finnippers and will shred a betta in a matter of hours and placing the two in the same tank is effectively torture. Mistakes are easily made when you start fishkeeping, I bought 4 'dwarf suckers' as they were labelled in the LFS and they all turned out to be highly terratorial CAEs (fun times catching them to return to the LFS) but the best advice I have recieved is always from fellow fishkeepers (who unlike many shops don't have an agenda). Without meaning to sound too preachy, please do the decent thing for your fish

all tanks should be stocked with fish that are suitable for that size tank once mature. tanks should never be stocked with fish that will needed a tank upgrade or need "giving away". these fish will suffer in a tank too small for themselves. thats like buying a kitten and giving it away when it grows up. you just don't do that. i really wish the OP would listen to all the excellent and experienced advice that has been offered rather than skirting around the problem and doing what they want anyway.

and puffer fish do not make good community fish. at all.
