my Kribs have just started shepherding their babies about the aquarium and they are being very protective towards them, naturally but they are really terrorising every other fish in the tank and regard the whole tank as their territory. My tank is a Rio 240 and is only very lightly stocked as it has only been up and running about 12 wks. I have 7 Dwarf Neon Rainbows, 4platys,1 Dwarf Neon Gourami and 3 Bala Sharks of 3in each.Should I remove the male kribensis and leave the female with the task of protecting the young on her own. I thought she might then be reluctant to leave her babies to go chasing after the other fish in the tank and just might stay close to her young. Any advice gratefully accepted.

Leave the parents in with them. Works out better that way.

Kribensis are African Cichlids. This belongs in the the " African/ Old World Cichlid " section.

My kribs are breeding at the moment and doing exactly the same, your fish will learn to stay out of the way. The kribs won't harm the other fish unless they actually try to eat the babies or get too close.

yupp i agree with all...leave the male...let him protect...and ur fish will learn to leave them alone...ive had a few less aggressive fish lost in this situation but its survival of the fittest. and if u remove the male...you mite lose ur pair...has happened to me. i would say keep ur other fish well fed so they are not lookn for eggs or fry.
