Is there any problem with is? what are the advantages and disadvantages? thankyou in advance.

there is nothing wrong with over filtering the only dissadvantage i can think of is with more filtration comes more flow and that can be a problem for some fish

would a fluval 305 external (300L) be too much for a 60 litre because soon upgrading to larger tank?

You need to attach a spray bar and it will be fine, otherwise i hope your fish like rapids

I agree there is no such thing as "over-filtering" but to much flow can be an issue depending on what species you have. And remember to keep a really nice tank despite having tons of filtration water changes do wonders.

Ya the more oxygen for the fish the filter flow can provide the better.

I don't think there is such a thing as "over-filtration". BUT all the flow could be bad for the C02 in the tank (if you do plants) by driving too much off. Other than that just make sure you dont have any tidal waves in there!!

Won't the 305 be half the size of your tank? Lol I would think about making your own spray bar out hosing with loads of holes wrapped around the tank. The spray bar that comes with it would probably cause a lot of disturbances in a 60L.

If you want a huge amount of filtration in a 60L go for the smaller 205 or even an internal like a Fluval U3.

Similar to what SlyPolak stated with CO levels adding a lot of flow may cause additional aeration which could in theory raise your pH which may be a problem if your going for softwater but you should be fine

I had NO CLUE lots of aeration could cause PH rises.... makes sense though. I have always had a 12 inch air stone in my tank, about a month ago I shut it off and took it out for my plants which did seem to give them a little growth spurt since its been out. My PH has ALWAYS been 8.0 but since I took the stone out now it stays areoud 7.4/7.6

I think that's a bit overkill for a 60L tank. By all means double the filtration, so get a filter for 120/150L tanks. Combined with good weekly water changes of 25%+ then you're all good.

That's funny I learned the same exact way, I always figured based on what I heard that Airstones made for less stressed fish no one tells you they can have effects on pH. I have had times were Airstones have moved it up .4-.6 easily. My Angel tank is averaging 7.0-7.2 pH were as my chiclid tank that runs with a big airpump on the UGF has a pH of 7.8-8.0 that's the only main difference. Its pretty amazing, but the same effect of CO2 lowering pH and causing fluctuations is why I never added CO2 to my angel tank :/ . Its all so complicated

Well I've known that C02 can lower PH but I never thought of it in that way... Turn off pump, have slightly higher C02, in turn lower PH... AAA DUUUUUH

There is also a away to find the exact amount of CO2 and O2 in water based oh pH levels, but I'm not sure how haha
