Ok i was curious, sorry if this question has been posted some where, i couldn't find anything on here about this. if you can please tell me. If I had a bunch of Mollies, guppies, Swordtails, platies, and such, and each species had 2 of each the same colored fish, say there were 2 black mollies, one male other female, and there was another mollie that was red or gold, would one of the gold mollies mate with the black or red mollie? Also would since there are a bunch of mollies in there and platies and guppies, would a guppy mate with a platy or since there is another of it's speciles there it wouldn't interbreed? Sorry i was just curous i know it was really really random but i am random

yes, different color mollies will breed. and no i dont think it is possible for guppies to breed with platies.

Platies and guppies can't interbreed, but Platies and Swordtails CAN and so CAN Guppies and Mollies. I would also recommend at least 2 or 3 females per male if you do get some :D

for my other 29 gal i plan on getting, all diffrent sorts of mollies, swords, Platies, Guppies, COrries, and some other stuff mabey, but since it is a 29 gal i can't get much other things, depending on how many of eacj fish i get... So not sure.. i know not to over stock and stuff..i learned that lesson along time ago, actually it was the fish stores fault wasn't mine at all actually, because i got my first fish tank with actaul fish in it a long time ago when i was like 11 or 10 and it was a 5 gal with over 20 fish in it .. and 2 bowls, one with a betta in it other with a tiger barb in it and the tiger barb didn't last long at all.. and alot of those poor fish died quick since there was soo many only 2 fish actually lived a longer life  i was crushed i was just a little kid i had no idea what was goin on and stuff..why there were dieing..

Mollies usually need salt in their water, unless you have hard and alkaline water. Cories won't tolerate salt very well, but the other Livebearers will be able to adapt to it. So if you're going to get Mollies, consider the water first, and then the fish to go with them.

As Blitztidus said, Platies and Swordtails can interbreed, and will do so quite readily. A lot of them have been bred back and forth to get different color types and finnage though, so you won't get anything special. Perhaps a Swordtail with a stubby sword or something. Guppies and Mollies also can interbreed, but this is basically unheard of in an aquarium. Not much need to worry about that!
