Tonight I accidently broke a thermometer while I was walking upstairs to put it back in my betta's tank. Right after it happened, I hear my dad starting to move about, so I warn him that there is glass on the floor, and I was in the process of cleaning it up.

He immediately blows up and and says "This fish thing is getting out of control."

My response "Uncle Dale used to have a tank that took up a whole wall, so how is a few bettas and a 20 gal out of control?"

Little does he know, I snuck in a new 10 gal today to create a divided betta tank, I have plans for a dwarf puffer in a 5 gal, plus my already established 20 gal. And I may leave a betta in my 1 gal upstairs as well. No MTS going on here. I say he should be happy with the few tiny ones.

I wish I had been around to see that tank of my uncles

Haha, nice. My parents used to be like that, but now they've given up. I mentioned getting my dad to feed my betta fry for me while mom and I went to visit my grandmother this weekend, and mom said she'd be glad when I "got over this phase." I'll be the first to admit that I've had obsessions in the past that came and went, but they never lasted years :|
I was just looking for something that really seemed to fit me, I guess :)

My parents like fish (Well, my mom anyways..)
She just gave me permission to start planning a 10G for our family room, my first fish tank downstairs!
This one people will actully be able to see, without having to go upstairs and find a route through all the stuff on my floor.
So, my parents know that I CAN take care of fish decently....

my mom used to like fish until my catfish ate all her neons. my dad used to keep fish when he was a kid but i doubt he knew what he was doing because he said he kept bala sharks in his 10 gallon. my parents are supportive. They bought me a 55 gallon for christmas last year.

Nice 1 tttnjfttt,

I'm glad to see that MTS dosen't exist on your side of the pond as much as it doesn't exist here.
It most certainly does.

I started with a 5G hex.
Now I've got a 46 bow, 54 corner bow, 37 and a 125. MTS has taken over in Pennsylvania for me.

Just wait till the next time your pops drops something breakable like a plate and say "this eating thing is getting out of control,"

i have 3 tanks and im getting another 4.....my mam n dad dont know about it yet though :p

So get this interesting twist. I have been trying to convince them to get a 55 gal to put in the family room. There is a big empty wall which can't really have something wide on. This one is constantly getting shot down, so my new one is if they will buy a stand, I will move my 20 gal out to the living room. Today he actually asked how much it costs and was impressed with how "cheap" it was. Now I've got to work on the no, we're not craming many more fish in there, its almost full as it is.

I guess I got lucky, both of my parents were animal lovers. My mom is passed away now, but growing up we had fishtanks, dogs, cats, rabbits, you name it. My dad recently took me to the store to buy some shelves because my betta tanks didn't have enough room. :p I'm living in his house (again) and have since gotten into betta-keeping on top of the tanks I brought when I moved back in. I now have 8 bettas, all being moved from 1-2 gallon tanks into divided 5 gallons. So there are 5 gallon tanks in the kitchen and living room all being cycled, and he hasn't complained at all. I have buckets full of water around all the time. I even bought him his own 30 gallon tank about 6 months ago and he absolutely loves it.

When I was a kid, I came home with a turtle from a pond one day. Dad took me to the lfs and bought a 100 gallon tank and all the fixings to make a good turtle tank, and he let me set it up in the front foyer for all to see. Not 2 weeks later though we found out it was illegal to keep him and we let him go.

Sorry, think I'm rambling and got off topic. So I'll hush up now. :D

Well, now its a done deal, my 20 gal is going out into the TV room

Now I just have to watch the stocking levels, i have a feeling he may try to slip a few new fish in :S

EDIT: He just walked in my room and found all the tanks. BUSTED!!!!
