Our pair of Gold Rams we picked up yesterday have just dug a pit and spawned
I thought they shared 'brood protection', but the male will not let the female near the eggs. Is this normal? We would so like to have some fry.
It doesn't help that they are in a community tank, with pristella, neons, oto's, amano shrimp and panda cory's - Who I guess might all try to snaffle eggs... I have read about leaving a dim light on the 'nest' to try and prevent this. Is this correct?
We have a hospital tank which I would love to move either/both the Rams to for their own protection, or that of the eggs. But our tap water is too high a pH to put them straight in as we have CO2 in the main tank that softens it.
What's a guy to do? God, I wish they'd waited till we were more prepared
Many thanks folks....
