To celebrate Christmas in our new house (first one as a married couple) my husband let me get the fattest tree I could find! (I love the fat little trees and we always had to reign me in because we were living in an apartment. )

Well....this year I got to get the biggest one I could find!!! It was fun getting it into our house! This is about 5 min after getting it into the stand (you can see the trail of needles leading up to it!) - cannot wait to see how it looks decorated!!!!

Lovely trees, I haven't put mine up yet, will be an artificial one though as I'm going to my daughter's for Christmas

Pyro I love it!
We will be decorating tomorrow.

Our first Christmas together 3 years ago we began a tradition - a White/blue lit tree with silver and blue decorations.

I will post pictures when it is done :)

That's a lovely tree, Jenste! I'm a big fan of silver and blue on trees too, but we're having pink and purple this year (it's an artificial white one though) :)

we'v not got ours yet :(

Love the picture! I hope to see more trees in this thread!

My brother and i put up our tree today, was depressingly piddly and a bit depressing as our other brother is too sick to help... was me that had flu last year...

It looks delightfully awful!! I dont like neat pretty colour coded christmas trees and def dont like fake trees :p to me that isnt xmas...

We had 3 sets of lights on a tiny tree not to mention a ridiculous amount of tinsel and baubles and crackers and whatever the heck else we found in the goody boxes.

Even an old paper robin signed on the back by moi (aged 4 LOL... 22 years ago) and a fairy one of my brothers made about 18 years ago... and ornaments we remember putting on the tree right back since forever, they look awful and oldfashioned...

But seeing them once a year is great fun! The only toys to have gone from the tree were the little lead painted figurines LOL mum chucked them after one christmas when she decided they wer too risky!

Will get photos up later... the cat is horrified by the monstrousity on her windowsill and the dog keeps stealing bits off the tree and shoving her bone and cuddley squirrel into the middle of it!

Ahhh fun days!

I like the fake trees as my cats take an interest to a big tree in the living room. For those that have given a cat a bath before, imagine trying to get sap out of their fur from a real xmas tree lol

It certainly is a fat tree!

Out of curiosity do you (or does anyone) know the name of the thing on top of your tree? I have one at home and it's my mams and when I was in Germany last christmas they were EVERYWHERE but my German friend had no idea what they were?

Does anyone know what they are called and what they symbolise?

LOL

My husband is not religious, so he didn't want the traditional star or angel....he wanted something weird.

(I had to say no to a batman theme!)

So what we did was....we tried to find the biggest ornament possible that caught our fancy, then we removed the top part that you attach the hook to, turned it upside down, and put it on top of our tree  As far as symbolism...to me it is just us being weird
