Was just thinking today that my current marine tank has caused me more injuries then all the other tanks I have had in the last 10 years combined.

So far I have:
  • Cut my hands to peices remove a glass divider from my sump
  • Cut the top of my arms on the top of the sump while working on it.
  • Took a large chuck out of my finger when cutting egg crate for the lid.
  • Badly superglued my fingers together when fixing an impellar.
  • cut myself on rockwork when moving it around.
  • Got tagged by a bristle worm (on thursday) and hand is still swollen and painful (on Tuesday)!

So what injuries has your tank caused you (or am I just really clumsy? :) ).

<cough, cough> think you missed one, I seem to remember a photo of a bleeding hand!!!

I have stopped counting the number of bruises I get from leaning into the tank - I usually get them at the top of the arm and they look just like finger marks! I once even had a pupil (a pupil you wouldnt want to meet in a dark ally if you get my drift  ) say to me, 'Miss, is your old man hurting you? Me and my brothers will go round and sort him out if you want'.

I have many rashes from brushing against corals or the Nems and several skin wheels from goodness knows what! And bites from blooming clowns :look:

ps and I wont even go into what it does to my nails :p

i nearly ended up in A+E today  mum was due back off holiday and id left a sump in teh garden, thought id best move it. picked it up and crach. right down my finger. blood everywhere. in teh end my bro did a good job and it stopped bleeding. TCP hurt like **** though

i had a 3 foot tank delivered the other day, it was sitting in my carport and i went out later that night to turn the light off on my quarantine tank, and on the way back to the house, crash, my shin right into the tank. Pretty nasty hole in my skin, but even bigger one in the tank, one whole side cracked to bits. ah well...

I wont even get into all the wounds i suffer while combing the rock pools and snorkeling in reefs

well not as bad as some people but i have had rashes. i got stung by a small bristle worm. it only hurt for 3 days. and a slight nip from my female clown.

Lol my favourite one was helping lfs with some zoa's, fragging and tank placement. Didn't wash ones hands, burger in local pub for lunch.
Let's just say I wasn't well for a few days.

ouch!!

well my worst has deffo got to be when my 12 inch volitan stung me, by mistake i might add lol

i had a 7ft marine setup, with 3 large viltans and apanther grouper in.
when i clened the glass my mum usede to stand and watch out for the lions getting too close, but one day my dad called out to her, she turned away for a split second and when she looked back all she said was dont move lol

what did i do? i moved! my forearm brushed past the lion, touching about 4 spines. i can tell you now, ive hurt myself a lot over the years, but this was like nothing ive ever experienced before or since!
instant pain, burning sensation, felt wobbly it was really horrible.
i had researched before getting the lions what to do if you get stunbg and the most common answer was the put the affected area in boilking water! i though f*** that! i put it under the hot tap for as long as i could take and then went to hospital.
all they did was put some weird cream stuff on me, then gave me some codeine tablets and sent me home.
for weeks i had a red lumpy rash and chronic shooting pains in my arm. went away after a while though

lesson here is i should have used an extendable algae scraper lol

you should try a sponge of some sort.. might be safer than a rusty knife :p lol

Broken glass into limbs? Chunks out of fingers? Rusty jabs? Yikes; I feel rather lucky now. Worst that has happened to me in marine was having a very fat, very long bristleworm suck onto my arm near the wrist and have a munch. Took me ages to get it off since I wasn't wearing gloves at the time and didn't want a hand full of spines, so it was able to dig into the skin before I was able to shake it off. No real bristle to speak of, but for a few weeks I had horrible rashes near the bite that eventually spread all over. I've never had that bad a reaction to just the bristles (of which I've had many, even through gloves), so I probably should've just knocked it off and come away with a couple of prickly fingers.

i few weeks back i got splashed in the eye with the water wich was grose then my tang which was blind swam into my arm then bit me all in all im pretty lucky by the sound of it

well all i have done so far was poke the zoas with a cut finger :X everything tasted like metal and i got a few headaches but know i dont touch the tank if i have a cut or something.

havent learned my lesson tho i still like to poke the zoas
