Fish Fanatic
So I stopped by this LFS that's held by a pretty old woman in my city. She is also selling all kinds of oldies clothing and ornaments... but she has a nice set of well planted aquariums and I saw these otocinclus that looked healthy. I asked her for how long she had them and she said 15 days. I wanted 3, but there were 4 in there and since they are notorious for not dealing with moving very well, I figured i'd get all 4 and if I lose one, then i'm still good.
Anyways, I acclimated them for a good 45 minutes and released them in my tank. At first, they just sat on whatever they could find first and didn't move much for 15 minutes. Then a couple of them found some diathom and started the munch. Soon after that, the others joined in and the frenzy started!!
I have diathom all over a pretty large fake plant and they went through it overnight. I expected them to be snoozing this morning after such a feast, but no, they were still scavenging whatever diathom was left in the tank (not much). Man, they are such pigs. Now i'm worried algae will never grow fast enough for them, so i'll feed them waffers and zucchini I guess.
I don't want to imagine the amount of poop they have produced already, I could see them poop every 5 minutes while I watched last night. Interesting fish though, I hope I can keep them healthy!
