this is my big fellow oscar, about 20 centimetre in diameter, i think my tank is getting too small since he uproots all of the plastic plants

i have a pleco and some kind of shark in the tank aswell, but they remain in shelter, its hard to get a shot op them, but im working on it. All the fish used to be in the same tank, but the 2 black oscars teamed up against the albino oscar, so i removed the albino oscar, but im afraid my big fellow is rapidly outgrowing my tank :(

Im not 100 % sure, but i think it is around 80 litres :/
i want a bigger tank, currently saving for a bigger tank

Looks like a 30G tank to me (3ft x 12in (deep) x 18in (tall)) which is roughly 120L

If this is the size tank than the o's are only roughly 2/3 full grown and way out grown for that tank. I would say the big one if 7 to 8" and the small 5.5 to 7"?

Your going to need at least a 120 for them to both fit into and this doesn't take into account territorial claims. They may be a pair however which would negate the need for extra space for territory. Do you ever see these two lip lock and chase and nip each other? This could be mating rituals or could just be trying to get the other fish away from it's territory. It all depends on the fish and your luck to happen to have purchased two fish that liked eachother (very rare to get a pair this way).

Anyways, get a bigger tank asap and they will love you for it. And the plant up rooting, they do this naturally as instinct though it may be more prevelant if they feel cramped :good:

the big oscar is about 22 cm(8.9") and the small one is 14 cm(5.5")(ox5477 is a good judge of fish size xD) . the tank is 1metre long, 40 cm wide, and 50 cm high. i didnt realize oscar get this big when i bought them, i am on the lookout for something bigger. The bigger tank is not the issue though, i need better filtation and pumps aswell.

when the albino oscar was in the same tank, the small black oscar and the albino oscar used to liplock and nip each other, i removed the albino one because the bigger one also started to bully him, the albino oscar is much more lively now in a separate tank :/

well like you already realize, that tank is too small for those two o's, then you added another so finally aggression showed itself (the liplocking is how they arm wrestle or cagefight).

Look into a bigger tank and yes, good that you realize the filtration is important as well. They are messy eaters and require heavier filtration than you would normally need, especially right now since they are too big for your tank. Good luck in the future :good:
