Hy I recently posted for help because i though something was fighting in my tank but today i have seen one of my oscars scrape himself against rocks in the tank and create fresh marks like the other oscar has that i thought were fighting marks. he looks as though he has an itch, I have read that you can get rid of this parasite by increasing the temp to 80 but will this be ok as i have two clown loaches and 2 common plecs 3 oscars and a gold algie eater,

I am just woried about the clowns with the medicine ? or should i just raise temp ?

thanks ally...

my water stats are good been checking every day since jan 1 with new liquid test kit, my nitrite was high last time thats why have been keeping eye on it . :good:

Whitespot looks like the fish has been sprinkled in salt.
I think I would add a med as whitespot can soon kill clown loaches.
You just half dose the med with clown loaches.
Increase aeration and temp to 30.

temp needs increasing to nearer 86F or 30C to have any effect,
aeration also needs increasing whilst the temp is increased.

a third or half dose of WS3 should be fine, I have used this before with clown loach and a BGK, both of which are very sensitive to meds.

use heat/salt methd halfing the does it will ort it out takes abit longer than meds but much safer than meds for the clowns.

1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 10gallons instead of the 1 tablespoon per 5gallon dose trat for 14-21days

He has plecs and clown loaches which don't tolerate salt to much.

the wound you can dab melafix or methylene blue on it to stop it getting infected.
if the no spots the size of grains of salt or excess slime I would just keep an eye on them for now.

How many gallons is the tank.
Can you post your water stats please.

Have you seen the oscar fighting and causing quiet severe wounds.
If so I would think of rehoming one of them.
To be honest never kept them so know nothing about them.
I would also post this thread in the cichlid part of the forum.

have been watching for fighting but they seem to be very close, the two copper oscars hang together a lot bot they keep going back to the albino and all get on realy well.

but as I said I saw one of the oscars swimming at one of the large rocks he swam down to it real quick then sort of flipped on his side on the rock bashing himself on it like he had an itch along with a new wound where hed hit himself, so thought it could be the parasite,

hy davo 86 will all the fish be ok in the raised temp ? I have airstones in the tank will this need increasing alot ?

You need to increase aeration when highing the temp as it reduces 02 in the water.
