Hi
I have just cycled a 48inch by 15inch by 20 inch tank total measured water volume 51 gallons us (this is total displaced volume after substrate added), filtered with an Ehiem 2217

Now having read lots on the internet about oscars, and now i am very confused. the tank size for one ocsar seems to range form 40 to 70 gallons, can anyone if the tank an filtration i have will support a single or possibly a breeding pair of tigers?

The bare minimum for a pair of oscars is a 75 and I would go with two emp. 400 as minimum filteration. Your eheim should provide more than adequate filteration. Definetly more than two emp. 400s.

Oscars get BIG....and with that type of fish id rather have a tank i know can support him instead of a maybe. 55 isnt enough for a pair.

100g for a pair, think about it this way. When they lay there eggs they lay upto 600 witch is a huge about of fish to have in a 51g tank, and they also lay every 3 weeks.
