Oscar Pond…

This is simply a warning post... I have redone my liner and am very confident in it's success. I finished the siliconing Sunday and will give it until Saturday to fully cure (I've had tragic luck with pushing curing times). So by Sunday you will either have to deal with an arrogant, gloating Oscar keeper or you will get a good laugh at hearing me cry about all the time/money I've wasted.

Should we start taking bets?

Can't wait for pics of the finished article! I'm soooooooooooooooo jealous

Just out intrest would you mind going into detail about the equipment you adding, filtration, heater, lights, etc.?

And to be honest it seems to me that a 1000 guppies seems a little excesive to cycle the pond, 50 or so makes more sense to me you only need as many fish as you would to cycle tanks normally for a couple oscars and pacus

good luck

yea I think I got a little over zealous when I said 1,000 guppies. I plan to use 400. I should have enough seeding from the start to handle a solid bioload so the actual cycle won't be very harsh. Then the guppies will be a welcoming meal for the new occupants...

I am also reconsidering the initial stocking of 12 Baby Oscars. As much as I love the idea of my 'Dirty Dozen', I think I'd rather make the initial stock lighter to allow for future additions...

Everything mentioned below is already purchased with the exception of the fish (obviously) and the pool sand.
