What test kit are you using.
How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
What do you feed the fish.
Does the fish look bloated.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
Is the anus enlarged or red and inflamed.
Any excess mucas on the gills.
Do the gills look swollen or red and inflamed.

A fish swimming on its side can be swim bladder to internal parasites, bacterial.

Not sure what black gills mean. Black patches can be ammonia burns that are healing.

Is your tank a 100 gallon or 100 litre. If its definately 100 litre is severely overstocked.

Is your ammonia and nitrite reading 0.

You need to improve the fish diet needs with some frozen foods.
Some fish need veg in there diet aswell.

Research your fish diet needs.

Any signs of flicking and rubbing.

100 gallons.

ammonia and nitrite are something like 0.5 if that.

No flicking or rubbing at all.

he sometimes has the grumps but never like this

my ph was low but now i have got it back up... he seemed better when it was really low :/

Water change.

Got to find out why the ph dropped.
Did you raise ph gradually.
What ornaments and substate do you have in the tank.
Whats your tap ph.

0.5 ppm of ammonia can be pretty toxic at high pH. This may be why he was feeling better at low pH, because the lower the pH, the more ammonia converts to (much less toxic) ammonium.

Just to say sorry i never replied but he died. all other fish are fine.

Many Thanks for your time,
Eigdoog.
