Can anyone explain...one of my two Oscars has suddenly started acting a little crazy. It is normally the more timid of the two...however it now emerges from it's favourite hiding place to do a frantic dance...similar to a dog chasing it's own tail..then returns to it's den...can anyone explain? It seems healthy and is eating normally..

Without knowing a lot of details no proper diagnosis can be made...

But I would guess she/he is under stress. possibly the dominant fish has her/him afraid and is therefore always hiding and occasionally comes out of hiding in an attempt to go to the other side of the river (but can't cause it's in an aquarium).

If this is the case I would think it is most likely due to the tank being too small. Oscars are usually very compatible with one another as long as they haven't spent significant time by themselves (Once an O becomes a loner he/she will not want same species company... but if they are raised with same species company they will be fine with enough space).

*Write Off… This ‘guess’ was made with no detail of fish size, fish gender, tank size, water conditions, etc. It is therefore unlawful to take offense to this post.

PS - I just saw this was your first post... welcome to the forum

Nope unforunately it's not my fish, but that would be friggin awesome if it was. I just found it in google search, and I love Albino Tiger Oscars, they are my favorite fish.

Interesting, sometimes my fish in my old 10 gallon would do that, but smaller breeds like molly's and such.. they didn't die after that, but I think they might have been stressed, or like NC said, reached sexual maturity.
