Oscar Fighting

I don't think the colour strain makes a difference (saying that my oscar books suggests that albinos are less aggressive)

Thanks, heres a stupid question....

What would happen if a green puffer was put in the tank with a medium sized oscar. The oscar tries to eat the puffer.
Will the oscar die from the venom?

Or die from it being ogded in its throat.

Just because 2 oscars are fighting doesnt mean it's over territory or breeding rights. The female will "fight" with the male to make sure he's big/strong enough to mate with.

There's not really any way to 100% sex them other than venting or watching them breed.

if i can add a question about oscars here. has anyone ever seen a 16 inch oscar? i mean with all the research i've done, i've read 20 different opinions about how big they get and what the minimum tank size is. i really want one but i'm confused on what to believe.

Let them duke it out, chances are its normal behavior and will be fine.
Have you seen the damage caused by Oscars fighting?
I've seen one that was obviously the weaker of the two and he was a mess. He had a chunk missing from his head, majority of his scales missing and was generally a pitiful sight. Not worth letting them "duke it out" in my opinion.
