I'm in a fairly small town, the pet store here is terrible..I've started to order plants but they take 7-10 days to get here.
I had an Alternanthera Lilacina arrive completely melted and an Anubias Nana that arrived fully in tact.

Any suggestions on plants that can survive the shipping other than anubias and moss?
preferably something with color.

Java fern, coloured plants might be tricky. Is there no way you could do express delivery?

Try to find a supplier who sell emersed plants, that will help a lot. Few times I received plants from the UK and France who got stock in the post. for just over a week. The lost are big and some time I lost 100% of a specie.
Over my head here are a few plants that I remember took a week to reach me, Echinodorus tenellus, Bacopa australis, Microsorum pteropus 'Narrow', Peacock moss, Glosso, Eleocharis Vivipara and Ludwigia arcuata.

If delivery is taking that long, it might be worth looking on eBay at places like AquaticMagic, based in Malaysia. He ships a lot of different plants and shipping times are similar to what you already have. He prepares some plants by removing stems (on crypts etc) so you basically get a stump with some roots. They should grow happily though when planted, just might take a bit longer.

I have some Crypts that I bought from him (crypt. crispatula "balansae") and they are sitting in my tank at the mo. Not checked them since last week but I think they're doing fine :)
