Hi guys.

Currently got a 40ltr tank with some fish in.

I'm looking to buy a larger tank with stand for my lounge area.

Wife wants a marine set up, me I'm after tropical set up.

Tanks we have looked at are a juwel Rio 180, a aqua oak 240 and a juwel trijon corner tank I think.

What's best, easy to maintain etc

Personally I like the juwel range, once the internal filter is taken out. It is a good filter it just takes up a lot of room. One of the things I like with the juwel tanks is you can remove both flaps and slide the light bar back giving you lots of access to do maintenance.

Would a 180 be a good step up from a 40

all depends on what you have room for the 180 is a good sized tank and will be allow you to keep a lot more fish :)

Personally I'd work out the largest tank you can afford that fits where you have space and go from there. You'll only end up wishing you got a bigger one!

Plus larger tanks are easier to maintain.

+1. Start bigggest possible, it'll save you in the long run as it will help prevent GAS (Gear Aquisition Syndrome), although not entirely. Bear in mind though that big fish tanks cost big bucks and big running costs. I went from a 120 litre to a 240 litre to a 640 litre and my power bill rose in sync.

I have the juwel vision 180 really nice tank with the cabinet, i got this one as it was the bow front range not the square rio range just looked nicer and is a taller tank not as long tho.

I have kept my internal built in filter and added an external filter to help it out.

Lovely tanks the juwel range mines not stupidly big and its not small at all.
