Ordered Almond Leaves

I got a pack of 20 of them on ebay for $6 ! They are huge leaves, and I put a whole one in my 12 gallon for my betta...His water is clear, but tinted brown slightly...I like it personally. My betta always swims around it too....i think he likeswher eit is, I have to with the suction clip holder so it blocks some of the outflow from my filter, and he swims on top of it by the outflow and under it (outflow is slowed). Looks "natural" the water.

i think there will be a little bit of a tint, but some people actually like it and try to maintain the coloration. it just depends on personal taste i suppose- when i got a piece of bogwood i was so happy with it and i really wanted to see how it looked in the tank so i rinsed it and put it straight in. the fish seemed to like it but the next day......when i looked at the tank it was tinted brown and i didn't like it, so huge water changes (which was silly of me) and i had to go soak it... it's still soaking to this day lol  . anyway, most fish don't mind, but blackwater species love it. there is also meant to be this filter media that can remove the tint while its still in the water, but IMHO i wouldn't because it might impair it's benefits.
Also where did you get them from? they are really good little things, lucky you :good: :D ;) good luck :good:
and its good to test it out like you are going to :good:
Hi,
I ordered the indian almond leaves from a seller on eBay and am anxiously awaiting their arrival :)

Best of luck with your IAl. We added these to our large tank as well as the bettas. The water takes on a tan/brown tinge which actually does look really nice if I say so myself. I am sure the bettas will love them. Oh and yep, over time with water changes the colouration will disappear :)

Ohh i was thinking of buying some apparently it does wonders for sick fish? Are they pricey?
GuppyGoddess, are you talking about the plant or the leaves? If you get me lol?

I just got some leaves delivered today, and put one in my betta's tank. Does anyone know how long they're meant to stay in there? Like, do you change the leaf every week? And do you always have a leaf in there, or just put one in there sometimes?

The water hasn't changed colour yet

leave them in untill they start to fall to bits and then use a gravel vac to suck them out. you dont alway have to have one in you dont evan need them at all so its upto you how often you put them in there and give them a chance the colour wont come out stright away :D
