Optimal Temperature

What is the best temperature to keep bettas at?

I have him in a 10 gallon (UK) tank and have guppies in with him (they arnt particularly brightly coloured so he doesnt seem to notice them).

What temperature would you suggest to keep the betta happy while not suffocating the guppies?

Some people keep betas in small unheated bowls. I have mine in a community tank where the temp is kept at 26-27 C
