Opinions on Fish

I’m trying to decide which school of fish to add with a couple of the more “peaceful” cichlids. I’m on somewhat of a budget so I have narrowed it down to;

Buenos Aires Tetra
Black Skirt Tetra
Giant Danio
Diamond Tetra
Rosy Barbs.

From experience and opinions which one is visually the best, as far as color and tight schooling? Also, any other suggestions of similar fish I missed. (Won’t break the bank).

Beunos Aires and black skirts are renown fin nippers and should not be kept with slow moving fish or fish with long fins.

Giant danios tend to school tighter than rosy barbs but aren't as colourful.

Diamond tetras form loose schools.

What are the tank dimensions (length x width x height)?

Blue Acara, Severum, and a Firemouth probably. It’s a 55 gallon (48 x 12 x 21). I plan on getting all the fish pretty small and having them all grow up together.

Rosy barbs, gold barbs and ruby barbs would all work well with them.
Male rosy barbs are red, females are bronze.
Male and female gold barbs are yellow with a bit of green along the lateral line.
Male and female ruby barbs have black stripes over a cream body, but the males turn black all over when they come into breeding condition.

Giant danios would work and would hang around the top half of the tank.

You could look at some of the rainbowfish. They have numerous colours and range from 1-4 inches, with the bigger fish being better options for cichlild tank mates. More info about rainbowfish can be found at the following link.
